When people imagine teaching themselves to play acoustic guitars they generally have a generic picture in their minds. But there is a lot of difference among these instruments, even if they appear outwardly similar. The differences tend to be subtle, yet the way they are built, as well as the purpose for which they are used, may affect how easy or hard any acoustic guitar lessons might be. You can see that the wide variety of types of acoustic guitars makes it hard to say you can simply pick one up and figure out how to play. This doesn’t even take into consideration learning guitar on one of the more unusual versions, such as the seven-stringed Russian guitar or even a twelve-string, which functions much like a six-string but requires a little more strength to play. If you think of the standard classical guitar, teaching yourself might seem easy. But investigating all the styles of acoustic guitar should make you think again.
