Like you probably have done, I have read a ton of interviews with great players and articles written by many of these same players. I often found it frustrating whenever the subject of learning to play guitar came up or when advice was offered on improving one’s playing. With a small number of exceptions, very little time and space was offered on this.
Surround yourself with better players (or at least with those on your same level.) When you started out playing guitar, everyone was better than you, but now you have grown and there are less people better than you than before. The better you get, the harder it will be to find others who are superior to you to hang around or jam with.
Remember that its ok to daydream and fantasize about where you are planning to go, but it can’t stop there. Don’t wish without planning! Don’t dream without doing! And always, always, have a strategy.
Create a strategy! You need a strategy that will layout exactly how you are going to reach your goals. Dreaming alone won’t take you anywhere. Telling yourself that you are going to play your guitar everyday isn’t enough. There is a lot more that goes into being an excellent player than simply playing your guitar.
For instance, the process may go like this: I notice I have trouble with a fast scale passage in a piece I am playing. I notice a particular note starts disappearing when I reach a certain speed. The note is being missed.
Now that we have the proper attitude in focus, let’s talk about how to go about “managing” the process of changing bad playing habits. How do we actually conduct ourselves, and our practicing and playing? As I have said, some people become paralyzed, afraid to play, afraid of undoing work done in practice sessions by what they do when they play. And for those who play professionally, it is of course, absolutely necessary that they continue to play, even if they are doing “remedial” work on their technique.
I believe “Self Expression” is the pinnacle of all art. Anything less, “is less” in my opinion. I’m not going to debate that view or try to persuade any of you to also believe it. Instead I am going to assume you already hold that view and discuss ways in which I may be able to offer you both philosophical and practical advice.
For instance, practice chord changes. Perhaps switching from an F barre chord to a D open is driving you crazy. Spend ten minutes going over and over the change.

Bass Lessons are available in all kinds of formats these days audio, video, book and even on-line. No matter what type of media you choose to start your journey to learning how to play bass you must always concentrate on the fundamentals no matter what your skill level.
A bass guitar is heavy and cumbersome to carry around, because of all the supporting gadgets that come with it, not to mention the long cables that accompany all of the gadgets. Bass guitars are expensive to purchase, and also tough to learn. But these are indispensable in any pop or rock band. A bass guitar can indeed be the most prized possession of a devoted bassist.
As such, the bodies of bass guitars need to be made of lightweight materials so that the weight is manageable. If a bass guitar was made of metal, chances are that a lot of guitarists would find it difficult or even impossible to play it. The preferred materials are wood and graphite, and different kinds of wood may be used, including maple, alder, mahogany, rosewood, etc. The strings are usually made of steel.
Identify the parts of the bass guitar. There are typically four strings, and the components are very similar to a guitar. The thickest string is the E (the topmost), followed by A, D, and G, and are also referred to as 4, 3, 2, and 1 respectively. On the neck of the guitar forming a grid-like pattern with the strings are metal strips called frets that make the notes produced higher as it goes farther from you.
It combines the plucking of the bottom notes with the percussive hits that the palm makes when it slaps the strings against the fingerboard. Slap bass is a very percussive style. It’s invention (on electric bass) has been credited to Larry Graham, of funk bands Sly& the Family Stone and Graham Central Station, allegedly improvising on an occasion when their band was left without a drummer! Slap bass is a must for the musicians who use spectacular and popular funk slap techniques which demands specific snappy attacks.
Attacking The Strings: The most important part to remember while starting to take slap bass lessons is the amount of intensity used to attack the strings. Now that you know the proper hand positioning and wrist movement you must know how to attack the strings with your thumb. With your thumb in position as described under the Hand Positioning section strike the low E string with the middle knuckle of your thumb and hit it pretty hard to get that classic “thump’ sound and then immediately release.
Play the scale four times completely through using sixteenth notes. This means that you must play 4 notes for each metronome beat. Again, if 60 bpm is too fast, slow it down to a tempo at which you can play the exercise perfectly. We play this exercise four time through , not only to increase your speed, but also to build your endurance–your ability to play faster for longer periods of time.
Not only do they need to know the right pattern to use and how to execute them in many different ways, but they also need to know how to practice with them. Regular practice with the proper set of fretboard patterns is a necessary component of becoming a seasoned player, time must be spent with practice, but it is important to know how to practice so that hours a day are not spent with insufficient result.

Why does an individual choose to study music? People study music for different reasons. Some people want to be a performing artist and others may want to be in the entertainment industry. Deciding on a music school is important because it is the foundation for your career.
There are many choices someone has while in music school. There are those who choose to work in the entertainment business, you are probably in one of the two main areas. One area of focus is selling; it entails more of the marketing aspects of your client’s records to possible buyers. The other main area is producing. Here you will be involved in the actual creation of the work.
If your choice is in the area of performing you may decide to play for the orchestra, singing in an opera or playing in a band. It was reported that a musician has one of the best unions in the world and the pay is very good. Whatever area you choose to study in, you should know what to consider when choosing a music school. Choosing an area of study is the first factor when finding a school. While choosing a school you will want to first determine what features are important to you in a school. Will you consider relocating to go to school or what about international exchange, is this a possibility? The cost of tuition is usually a major determining factor? Once this is all figured out, you can focus on your interests and choice of school.
When looking at music schools you should do your research on each one. This can be done online; you can go directly to the schools website and if possible try to visit the school. You can find information such as any certificates offered, requirements for admission, student demographics, and more. Check out the school’s FAQ page or a Q&As on the website for more information also. You should know how long the school has been around. You do not want to pay tuition then before you blink the school is shut down. The more you know about the school you choose will give you guarantee that the time spent there is not wasted.
It is a good idea to do some research on the directors at the music school and what background they have. Make sure the schools you are looking at do not refer to their teachers as “certified.” You are looking to see if they have a degree. If it says certified, this could mean the teachers have no degree and may lack the experience. Remember while wondering what to consider when choosing music school to think about if the school has any connections such as with any record companies. Talk to other people, you may find that someone knows about one of the music schools you are interested in.
You should also consider what courses will be offered through the school you are interested in. For example, one music school may offer classes focusing on singing where other schools have courses in song writing or audio engineer. Once these steps are taken care of, your decision can be made with ease.
Choosing the right music lessons are very important. The appropriate choice of music academy would also be wise.

They were the quiet members of their great bands, and they were backbone of the bands. They chilled while 60,000 fans yelled for more.

Dance, if you want to put a description to it, is simply a form of art, as well as sport. It can be described as rhythmic body movements done gracefully to music. Dance is also used as an emotional release or sometimes used in spiritual or social interactions. Included in this art form are body movements meant to express ideas in a silent non-verbal way. This can also be seen among animals, bees being just one example. There are even some sports that fall under one type or form of partnership dance, such as figure skating, synchronized swimming and even martial arts if the training is done as a synchronized dance in a sport setting.
Dancing is more than just its movements. A lot of dance forms depend on other factors, such as the social, moral aesthetic and cultural settings. Any restraints placed upon free expression or competitions can also affect dance forms, as well as ceremonial performing arts. In this case the dance can tell a story or show an expression or emotion.
There are several competitions in dance that are judged on the performance. These dance types fall under the classical form and include ballroom dancing, the tango, ballet and the waltz. If you aspire to go into the field of dance as your career there are many paths available. There is professional dancing in one of many dance companies or a choreographer for the dance performances. You can also go the route of training dancers in traditional, ethnic and forms of ceremonial dance. When teaching your students they will be taught solo, partner and being part of a choreographed dance group.
Music and dance just go together. It is hard to imagine a famous show, like the Blue Danube, being performed without the music. It is only logical that both dance and music evolved as musicians started to compose their symphonies or rhapsodies in a way that allowed people listening to the music to move with it. Such movements included dipping, gliding and swaying in such a way that seems suitable to the listener. Only after the music was composed were fixed sets of moves for a dance decided upon. This enabled the development of many dance forms.
If you did not dance to music, you would be considered to be dancing to your own rhythm. For example tap dance forms do not use any music, but the tapping off the feet in a regular fashion is an astonishing and musical way to enjoy that dance form in itself.
Dancing is meant to be both relaxing and invigorating. However, not only is dancing a great workout, but it is also a way of becoming more flexible. It is even used for therapy, because it can be so soothing and it improves muscle coordination.
So whatever the reason may be, if the music is provocative enough to make you want to get up and dance, go for it!

Art can take many forms but one of the most compelling and physical is performance dance. Deciding that you want to pursue a career in dance is a very bold move as you discover that it is not only a job but a way of life that can be very rewarding. Most serious students that begin with dance stay in the field throughout their lives, transforming to different areas as their situations change. Here are a few of the areas where students that began as dancers, flourished into like-minded careers.
Dancers
A dancer performs in the show. Dancers are not always involved with the creative side of the production, but some do add their input when it comes to dance steps, ideas or moves. Quite often a dancer will become a choreographer or teacher, since they can do both jobs at the same time. One way to get an idea of what is involved in a dancing career and how the different areas can be combined is to go to a specialized school. There are many great theater and dance schools around the country you can go to.
Artistic Director
The principal function of the artistic director is to set the artistic direction and vision for the dance company. The artistic director and choreographer are actually one and the same and whose job it is to teach dancers movement, dance moves and create styles.
Technical Careers
Every great show has a lot going on behind the scenes. You will find stage hands and lighting professionals who have much to do in a short amount of time between scenes, since they are responsible for the scene changes and lighting changes which there is not much of between scenes. The production manager does the coordinating for many aspects such as lights, sets and sound while the stage manager tends to the lights and sound cues and communicating with the performers.
Administrative Careers in Theater
A wonderful way to reach the community for fundraisers, special events and in general getting them involved and to help in performances gaining merit and public relations and grants is through theatre arts. Many dancers will put on a show for all to see what they are capable of as a form of advertisement and are happy to do it.
Documentary Careers
How fascinating to be the person responsible for videotaping all sorts such as specials, documentaries, publications or just to take the video of the dancers. The name given to those who do the reconstructing of older works is dance notator. Laban and Benesh are the main forms or notators. There is the infamous critic whose presence just seems to be felt, with people waiting to hear their opinion. Many feel that the critic should either be currently dancing or at least did so previously since they could look at it from all angles and are familiar with the emotions involved.
Yet another possibility in the dance field is to become a dance teacher. Dancers can either assist other instructors or conduct their own classes. This is a very fulfilling job, because dancers can watch younger people and children attempt to realize their own dreams of being dancers. If dancing is close to your heart and it is something that is part of your life, then there is no problem working in a field that is both enjoyable and a life’s dream.

At one point in history, medieval times to be exact, if you were not knowledgeable or versed in one form or other of dance, whether traditional or classical, it was said that you weren’t born under a shining star. That expression alone, that a star determined your ability to dance, shows how big of a part it played in the cultural heritage of many civilizations. It also covered important aspects of society, such as traditional, social and ethical.
There are so many ways of expressing yourself through dance from the simple romantic dancing through the night with someone, or perhaps the beat of the bongo drum accompanied by rhythmic jumping while shaking your spear in the same fashion. Perhaps there is simply the waving of hands in the air which is like saying “I’m so happy that I just want to dance”.
There are plenty of dance forms out there, which have come down through the centuries, in a traditionally unbroken form in the shape of classic dances like ballet and the waltz. On the other hand, there are comparatively modern dance forms, like hip-hop, jazz, acro, break dance, tap dancing, the Charleston, the cha-cha-cha, and other such dance forms, which have come out from traditional art forms and taken their own shape. The idea is creativity, and flexibility of your body, and the way to use it to make the audience feel, “yes, here is a dancer, who understands rhythm and can express some emotion through the medium of dance.”
There are plenty of career options open for a person who enjoys dancing. You would want to be a trainer of dancers, training them for competitions like Highland Dance competitions, the waltz, the tango, 1930s style dancing, tap dancing, Irish dancing, etc., which means that only one dance style is going to be seen in the competition. So, if you think you can train your group to dance the Highland fling to win the competition, please do so!
Choreography is all. Imagine a musical like Cats not being choreographed perfectly, with all the cats supposedly doing their own thing, but in a manner which makes it seem natural. Imagine the Cats singing rhythmically, but not knowing what to do with their hands and their feet. That is where a choreographer comes in. He is so well-versed in the art of dance that he is going to tell the dancer/singer to lift up one arm high, when she is hitting high C. That is going to give her diaphragm, chest and lungs more space to expand. So if you think that you know about the coordination of dance, rhythm and song, choreography is the career for you.
Ballroom dancing is another career option open for a performing artist. You can go all around the world taking part in ballroom competitions, and winning prizes. Professional performers can also take part in Latin dance competitions and other traditional competitions. You might also want to go in for teaching dance, or become a dancing sport coach. You may teach Pilates and yoga or become a hobby class teacher.
