How Dance Improves You Health

Dance is an incredibly diverse activity. There are so many different styles of dance, many of them completely different from each other. Take, for example, Bollywood and Belly Dancing, urban and street dance, ballroom, ballet and salsa. With that number of styles out there, there’s surely one you’ll enjoy. But aside from being a lot of fun, dance is also great for your health.

One of the first major benefits is the fact that it can assist in weight loss. A half hour dance session, depending on the style of course, can burn off anything between 150 and 400 calories! There was recently a research study carried out, in which dancers enjoying an evening’s dancing wore pedometers. Over the course of the night, they had covered on average 5 miles each! In fact, dance is so effective as a means of burning calories that the UK government is hoping it might be the answer to childhood obesity problems. It has incorporated ballroom dance into school PE lessons.

Another benefit is the fact that dancing is great for cardiovascular conditioning. It can improve your cholesterol levels, lower your blood pressure and slow your heart rate. That can be a great thing for people of all ages.

The other major benefit is the fact that dance can help to strengthen bones. This is particularly useful for the older people, whose bones may be starting to weaken. Older people can find a style of dance that suits them and use that as a means of strengthening their bones.

There’s social benefits too, as well as the health ones. Dance can be a great way to make friends! With these benefits added to the health ones it’s surprising that we’re not all amateur movers! Fortunately, it really can be cheap as well! You just need a class aimed at your ability level, a pair of comfortable pants and some trainers! Then if you get really into it, you might want to think about investing in dancewear and shoes later on!

And if you do decide to invest in Ballroom Dance Shoes, or quality Dancewear, check out some of the online stores for the best value!

Planning Ahead For Your Prom

Contrary to popular belief, prom is more than just buying a dress and putting on some make up. For it to be everything you dreamed of, some careful and early planning is needed.

For everything to be organized, you may want a small yet attractive journal for this special occasion. Your diary for the event may be a nice little book from the stationery store that you selected specifically for this event. The most important thing is picking a date, so let’s assume you’ve done that. So let’s move on to the other things. Some things to put on your to do list include buying the ticket, planning the transportation, choosing a dress and accessories, and planning an after-party shindig.

Advance Planning is Key

Don’t take my word for it that advanced planning is important. If you need proof take a clue from your own school. Prom packets are being issued by most schools in February or March. This information kit will tell you everything you need to know and include forms, protocol, and deadlines. So you need to keep it in a safe place. Keeping some notes in your prom journal is a good idea, to remind you of important dates.

Your Ride

Going to the prom in a limousine can be an event by itself. But remember, there are only so many to go around. So make early reservations. When you book the ride, get everything that you are promised in writing. Mistakes may happen especially if people are busy, so this is very important. You wouldn’t want your night ruined just because your limousine failed to show up on your doorstep.

Limos will take a nice chunk of change out of your prom budget so try to partner up with few couples. The cost would be a lot of cheaper if more people chip in on the bill.

The Clothes

Waiting for the last minute is always a bad idea whether it’s a tux or a dress you need because you’ll have no choice but to get whatever is left in the shop. Specialty shops need time in doing the alterations or for special orders in size or color. A bonus to shopping early is that many tuxedo rental shops give discounts to those who beat the rush.

Post-Prom Festivities

Midnight is usually the end of prom. By that time you’ll have taken in enough sugar and carbs to keep you active until the wee hours of the morning. There are some things you need to think of before rushing off to the post-prom party. First make sure you will have a ride to the venue and then back home. Your limo service may have a time limit, to be sure, check with the limo rental agency.

Call ahead to make reservations and arrangements if you plan to head out to a restaurant. Teenagers in groups might be turned down by some establishments if the proper arrangements haven’t been made.

Thinking ahead keeps you in control. When the details have bean taken cared off, all the rest will fall into their proper places.

Carl Cox Profile - Singers Review

Carl Cox is the first person to be named number one DJ in the world on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ poll when he won in 1997. He began his career as a hardcore and acid house DJ in the 1980s and made a name for himself as the “Three Deck Wizard” in 1988.

During that year’s Second Summer of Love, he began to play on three turntables at once. He has played at clubs such as The Eclipse, Edge, Shelly’s, Sterns Nightclub, Heaven, Sir Henry’s in Cork, Angels and The Haienda.

During a gig in Venezuela in 2007 a shooting spree broke out. Four people were killed and five were injured. There is a video from the club, showing Cox’s reaction to the gunfire and the aftermath of the shooting, was posted on the Internet. Cox later made a statement on his website: He says: “I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of Saturday [3rd November]. My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in the horrific act that took place at this gig.

I am informed that it was gang-related, and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun. I find it such a sad moment in electronic music as this was probably one of the best set up shows I had played in South America - a sign of real progress…yet utterly hijacked by this mindless act.

Again, my heart goes out to those that have died or been injured. This is NOT what the dance scene is about and is a million miles away from what I want to do, or promote.” Albums: In 1996 At The End Of The Cliche, (edel UK Records/Worldwide Ultimatum Records), in 1999 Phuture 2000′ (edel UK Records/Worldwide Ultimatum Records), and in 2005 Second Sign Carl’s ‘Global’ radio show has now reached over 4 million listeners and is broadcast across 24 countries worldwide, making him one of the most important broadcasters on the planet.

Look out soon for the forthcoming DVD, which is an insight into Coxy’s life, following him on his travels around the world, with interviews from friends, family and industry figures along the way. The DVD will feature a full set recorded live from his sell out gig at Matter in London and promises to be an absolute must for all dance music fans. Carl Cox is truly a musical ambassador, a professional DJ since his early teens, a veteran of acid house and a champion of techno.
