Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family of Gary, Indiana, he made his debut onto the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1969, and later began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the ‘King Of Pop’ in subsequent years, his 1982 album “Thriller” remains the world’s best-selling album of all time and four of his other solo studio albums are among the world’s best-selling records: “Off The Wall” (1979), “Bad” (1987), “Dangerous” (1991) and “HIStory” (1995). In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos, such as “Beat It”, “Billie Jean” and “Thriller”—widely credited with transforming the music video from a promotional tool into an art form—helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as “Black Or White” and “Scream” made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques such as the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip-hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists. Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundations, charity singles, and support of …

A vocal splash culminates each build into clubland euphoria. Bam and Sheik clearly mark their spot with this one. By Dj Mattew www.djfunk80.com A club disc jockey selects and plays music using several turntables, CD players, or a hard-drive source, mixing the songs with a mixer and modifying the tone or sound of the recordings with equalizers and other effects. The setting can range anywhere from a neighborhood party at a private home or a small nightclub to a discothèque, a rave, or even a stadium. The size of the sound system varies according to the venue, and can range from a 500 watt PA system with two small speakers at a house party to a 50000 watt sound reinforcement system with a number of speakers and multiple 15″ subwoofers at a major dance club. The main focus of club DJs is on the music they play and how they mix tracks in and out, sometimes just to add a bit of energy to a track. They build their sets by choosing “tracks” (songs) to control the energy level of the crowd and use beatmixing and beatmatching techniques to make seamless transitions between tracks. Some DJs may interweave a number of different songs or samples into each track that they play What is DJ-ing anyway ?” I’ll start by saying it is not just chaining tracks together into one long continuous piece of music. How you mix your records, which records you mix and even the order in which you mix them can make or break an atmosphere. A DJ is a musician who is using music to make music. The turntables, mixer and records make up one of the most versatile and complex instruments imaginable. Still, this does not …

Dj Highfly - scratching with a transform-button (on / off switch). More Britcore at: www.britcore.net Explanation: We took my vestax - mixer and soldered an simple on/off button into it. Here is a short demo about this kind of scratching. In the past, a lot of people used the line/phono switch to make tranforming sounds with it. There are a few dj´s using this kind of an selfmade “fader” (like dj Psychopath from Hideouz Newcome, or the dj´s from Knightz of Bass). It´s an easy technique to do funny things and hardcore scratches ia high speed way (120 bpm and more). Especially the sound of “Britcore” (European Hardcore Hip Hop like Hijack, Silver Bullet, Gunshot, Demon Boyz, Hardnoise and a lot of other Crews has a lot of scratches in their songs like this kind of style). You Dont need an expensive mixer for this technique, there also exists small boxes with a build in button, for more informations about the button or the selfmade 1mm vinyl, feel free to write me a message. I hope you like the scratches (only fun-demo, no competition) Thank you, and dont forget: Stay hardcore!
www.myspace.com Motown’s music was crafted with the same ear towards pop appeal. The company specialized in a type of soul music it referred to with the trademark “The Motown Sound”. The Motown Sound was typified by a number of characteristics: the use of tambourines to accent the back beat, prominent and often melodic electric bass guitar lines, distinctive melodic and chord structures, and a call and response singing style that originated in gospel music. In addition, pop production techniques such as the use of orchestral string sections, charted horn sections, and carefully arranged background vocals were also used. Complex arrangements and elaborate, melismatic vocal riffs were avoided; [2] Motown producers believed steadfastly in the “KISS principle” (”keep it simple, stupid”) [3] Berry Gordy used weekly quality control meetings, held every Friday morning, and veto power to ensure that only the very best material and performances the company came up with would be released. The test was that every new release needed to “fit” into a sequence of the top 5 selling pop singles of the week. As a result, several tracks which later became critical and commercial favorites were initially rejected by Gordy; the two most notable examples being a pair of Marvin Gaye songs, “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” and “What’s Going On”. In several cases, producers would re-work and re-re-work tracks in hopes of eventually getting them approved at a later Friday morning meeting, as …
